Game Informer just reviewed the early dev version of Fallout 3 for
Xbox 360. Well... release date still covered with dense mist (Fall 2008), but some conclusions already could be made.
Firstly, game mechanics. Battle system slightly reminds of real-time regime in Fallout Tactics. Improved
Gamebryo Engine shows some impressive visuals that nicely represents the post-nuclear alternative future. Role-playing mechanics is not our business to speak of, but... old good
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. keeping its place to be the basis for everything (oh my god!). Ok, Ok... enough of this! Pipboy is back... upgraded and modified it's now titled
Pipboy 3000 and has really eyecatching exterior. In addition to scary design it's capable in catchin' up vawes and echoes of distant radiostations. Yep, those few civilized places left will be airing that old stylish Fallout music based on most beautiful musical artifacts from 40-50s of 20th century. All we know for sure at the moment is that Bethesda licensed around 20 tracks for the game.
The bad is that main composer's name still haven't been revealed. Judging on the first teaser we may have well crafted, but mostly hollywood-style orchestration at the very end. Well, no rush - let's wait for further information be available.
