Review

Oh, what a wonderful new world

Nomad (EP) was released just a month after Dogs And Their Stars was issued for purchase (we consider it to be a rhythmical sequel of the album Everything is Now) but its roots are far more deeper extended to the very first Michael Bross’s album which is entitled Soul Fragments published in distant 1999.

This EP was composed under the impression of the winter vacations, which the composer spent in a deserted part of the central coast in California. Nomad is a final triumph of sound design over musical form, another one demonstration of a skillful juggling with the various sound ideas. Among more or less traditional instruments we can name only keyboard playing the motive from the Everything is Now heading. A light, crystal-clear ambient provides a panoramic sound, floating in the atmosphere like layer clouds and gives a feeling of cosiness and seclusion. On the other hand this music can be easily associated with a fairy forest full of unusual sounds and mysterious rustles. Another interesting fact is that this is a rhythmical ambient, viz., the panoramic sound creates a remarkable, charming, and lulling flow bearing all our thoughts far away. «Sleep, sleep», - says Michael in Countryside. He used exactly the same technique in Geometry of Sleep from the album Soul Fragments.

With every minute this flow becomes more and more saturated cause Michael keeps on introducing newer and newer sounds. And these 15 minutes, for which the EP lasts, fly by absolutely unnoticed and end in the most interesting place. Here it depends on you whether finally to fall asleep or to continue staying awake not forgetting at the same time to switch on your mind.

Nomad is recommended to be listened to after a hard-working day.
