DNA Music Limited presenting interests of
Nathan McCree hinted that the composer was planning to release a chill-out compilation with compositions from
Tomb Raider, games by studio
Blue 52 and short films entitled
“A Lingering Face” and
“Sylver Linings”. Plans as usual tend to change, that’s why nothing seems to be left from the original idea. Yep, nevertheless Nathan has released his album and yes, sometimes it’s really a pretty calm music. However this album’s repertoire is completely different and composed for other purposes, viz. for licensing. So this release should be treated as a commercial music library and in this connection one shouldn’t demand for artistic extravagance from Nathan.
“Console Sounds” is a collection of imaginary themes for modern video games, i.e. urban electronic compositions with low-frequency sound design, tuneful melodies and rare orchestra inclusions. This album is simple enough and is likely to have been written in a hurry. But for admirers of Nathan McCree works “Console Sounds” will appear to be a pleasant surprise: the album came out without any special solemnities and advertising campaigns and because of this it’s unknown to a general audience but familiar to millions of gamers notes are constantly emerging while listening to the CD.
