In the last four years, thousands of gamers have participated in Extra Life, a gaming marathon in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which sees families and friends sponsoring the gamers&39; efforts in support of CMN Hospitals. One of the participants of this year&39;s fund raiser is composer Sam Hulick (Mass Effect trilogy, the upcoming Baldur&39;s Gate: Enhanced Edition). Anybody who pledges $12 or more via Hulick&39;s Extra Life page is eligible to enter into a raffle to win one of four autographed copies of Hulick&39;s Red Orchestra 2 soundtrack.
The Kickstarter campaign for Conclave, described by its developer 10 x 10 Room as "a cooperative browser-based RPG that captures the spirit of tabletop gaming with friends", has been successful, with the project reaching its target of $75,000 in the very last hours of the campaign. With the project already in beta, the developers are now looking to add more content to the game, as well as new in-game music by Mass Effect and Red Orchestra composer Sam Hulick.
The organisers of New York Comic Con 2012 have announced the "Maestros of Horror and Sci-Fi Music" panel for Friday October 12, 2012 (details available here). Renowned video game composers Jason Graves, Kevin Riepl, Sam Hulick, Sascha Dikiciyan, Cris Velasco, and Tom Salta will be joined by Grammy award-winning Artist/Producer Nile Rodgers, founder of video game music label Sumthing Else Music Works, to discuss composing music for the horror and sci-fi genres and the artform of scoring video games. The panel will be followed by a Meet & Greet / Signing Session with the composers.
